BOURNE TO WIN AT THE BOX OFFICE
Jason Bourne finds his identity at the box office winning number one slot. |
Jason Bourne finally found what he’s looking for at the box office, $70 million for The Bourne Ultimatum winning the weekend slot over The Simpsons $26 million. |
Director Paul Greengrass says Bourne is not only a tale about identity. It’s also a great ride. |
“He wants to know what kind of person was I and how I came to become Jason Bourne. That’s the thing he’s looking for. He’s looking for his moral identity, the secret of his moral identity and that’s really what this film is underneath the chase and the action adventure and the great ride that you’ve got to have. That’s what he’s driving towards.” |
Greengrass who also helmed The Bourne Supremacy says what sets the Bourne franchise apart from the other summer movies is the reality of Bourne’s dilemma. |
“Here we are and we’ve had a summer full of movies that are about super heroes or magic worlds or comic book universes and I love those movies. I can see them all and Bourne comes along and he’s different. He’s a real man in a real world on the run looking for answers and that’s why our audiences love him because we can all relate to that.” |
The super hero Underdog came in third at the box office with $12 million. |
