BLUES TRAVELER FINISHING NOT ONE, BUT TWO DIFFERENT ALBUMS
Blues Traveler are in the process of finishing two different album and John Popper talks about the bands summer project right here. |
Blues Traveler have been performing together for 20 years, and decided to mark the occasion with the making of two separate albums. The first will be the long awaited “Best of Blues Traveler acoustic CD.” The band called on their fans to vote for the best cover songs in Blues Traveler’s vast musical library and they have begun the process of recording this album, which they hope will be done by the end of summer. The second album, which the band has already begun pre production on, will be an album of all new material and the follow up to 2006’s ‘Bastardos.’ |
We caught up with Blues Traveler’s lead vocalist, and one of the best harmonica players in history, John Popper, to talk about recording two albums at the same time. |
“We’re making two right now. One we wanted to write, and one we’re going to do an acoustic covers album and I left the band alone to work on it and they started writing completely new arrangements for the songs. It’s weird I’m singing the same words over completey different melodies. So, it’s a strange project and that will be out in the Summer. Then the album that we wrote will be out right after that. That one we’re going to write new material on and stuff.” |
Blues Traveler hopes to have Best of Acoustic CD done by the end of summer, and then they will look to release the next album, although definitive release date has been set. They will be touring the US this summer with dates extending until August 25th in Peachtree City, Georgia. |
