Blue October is currently touring with Shiny Toy Guns and Yellowcard in support of their recently released double disc set, Foiled For The Last Time. The disc features their latest, critically acclaimed, album Foiled with a few tracks added. It also includes a live disc recorded at Stubbs in their hometown of Austin, Texas. |
The double disc set features the addition of the song “Calling You.” Not only is it one of their biggest back-catalog hits, it’s also taking off as a single. We asked singer Justin Furstenfeld if the addition of the older track is intended to pique interest in the band’s back catalogue. |
“Hey if that works, that’s even better. I didn’t even think about it from that way. Basically we needed something to tide people over until the next album came out, and ‘Calling You’ just kind of took off. We were like, ‘What?! People are playing it again? OK. That’s really cool.’ So we just kind of let it happen. Universal and management worked their asses off to get more and more stations on it, and now it’s kind of jumping up the charts. We’re really not quite sure what’s going to happen (as the effect) with that track, but we’re hoping for the best.” |
With that being the case, and the band touring for the last 15 months, we asked if they’re delving into their three other studio albums this time around. |
“They all do. Every set we play has a good chunk of each album on every set list that we play. So tonight we’ll song we’ll be playing four songs off ‘Consent,’ four songs off of ‘History’ and twelve songs off ‘Foiled,’ probably, two songs off “The Answers” I don’t know how many exactly. We love all of the albums that we’ve made. It’s not like, ‘We made foiled and all the albums are, like, whatever.’ They all have their own style, they all have their own stories behind them all, and we love every single one of them, so…” |
Blue October is eager to record their new album, and they can get to work when their tour concludes November 17th at home in Austin. |
