BLOC PARTY SAYS ALBUMS ARE A CHALLENGE
Bloc Party talk about the recording process of their latest album, ‘Weekend in the City’ which debuted at #12 in the U.S. and #2 in the U.K. |
British Indie Rock favorites, Bloc Party have a full fledge hit album on their hands with the release of their latest album ‘Weekend in the City.’ The album, which is the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2005 album ‘Silent Alarm,’ debuted at #12 in the U.S. and #2 in the U.K. Already spawning the hit singles ‘The Prayer,’ ‘I Still Remember’ and ‘Hunting for Witches,’ ‘Weekend in the City’ was once again a very challenging album for Bloc Party to make. |
We caught up with bassist Gordon Moakes of Bloc Party to get his thoughts on every album being a challenge for the band to make. |
“Everytime we make a record it’s always a challenge, just because you have four people who have different ideas and stuff. That’s the great thing about our band, that we do have such different tastes and the music is allowed to represent that in a way. But that means there’s bound to be things that we disagree on but I think it (‘Weekend in the City’) speaks for itself as far as how it turned out.” |
So what were the band’s thoughts on their sophomore success? |
“To say you’ve had a top 12 record in America is a big deal. So, we don’t take any of that stuff for granted. It’s always nice to hear that kind of thing.” |
Bloc Party have also announced a partnership with U-Myx which is giving fans an opportunity to mix their new single ‘Hunting for Witches.’ Their favorite track will be featured on the band’s MySpace page as well as being included in an upcoming download only album which will be released in the coming months. After performing at Madison Square Garden in New York and The LA Detour festival at the beginning of October, the band will head to Europe with dates extending until December 15th in London. |
