BLIND MELON STALKED BY CURRENT BANDMEMBER
Blind Melon’s Travis Warren talks about stalking the band since 1995 and how fortunate he feels to replace the huge shoes of Shannon Hoon. |
Blind Melon, having lost original lead vocalist Shannon Hoon to a tragic drug overdose in 1995, decided the best thing to do was put the band to rest with Hoon’s incredible vocal talent. As the years passed the original members still had the desire to record and tour together if only they could find the right person to fill the huge void left after Hoon’s passing. Although it might have taken a little longer to find the proper mix of talent and charisma, the band was incredibly lucky to have found their new voice in Travis Warren. Warren, who was performing with his former band Rain Fur Rent in San Luis Obispo, California always had a strong desire to move to Los Angeles and really follow his dreams of performing on the big stage. |
We caught up with Travis Warren recently to get his thoughts on getting the coveted lead vocalist slot in Blind Melon and he even admitted he’s been stalking the band since 1995. |
“I’ve been stalking them since 1995 and I pretty much knew everything about them. It was kind of a weird thing and one thing led to another and I moved down to Los Angeles a few years back and through a mutual friend, the guy was asking me about my influences and I mentioned Shannon Hoon and he was like ‘I know Christopher and Brad’ and one thing lead to another. I met the guys and we wrote a record and now we’re on tour and now we’re doing this. Here we are!” |
Blind Melon are currently touring in support of their latest album ‘For My Friends’ and the band has dates booked in North America until October. |
