BLIND MELON GETTING INSPIRATION FROM TRAVIS WARREN
After finally finding a suitable replacement for the late Shannon Hoon, Blind Melon talk about new vocalist Travis Warren. |
After Blind Melon’s premature demise following the tragic death of former vocalist Shannon Hoon, the remaining band members retreated away from the stage and touring and concentrated on producing albums. Clearly the fire was still there to get back together, write new material and hit the road again as Blind Melon, but the band had to find a suitable replacement to fill the huge void left after the death of Hoon. Although it was twelve long years between the band’s last two records, they feel they are finally on the right direction again with their latest album ‘For My Friends’ which features new vocalist Travis Warren. |
We caught up with Blind Melon recently to get their thoughts on being inspired by Travis Warren and how it felt like home, writing together as a band again. |
“Oh man for us it just felt like we were going back home. It felt so comfortable to write new songs with these guys. Travis just kind of came right in and inspired us. The record came out on April 22nd and we’re on the road going out there promoting the record.” |
So what was it about Travis Warren that attracted the attention of Blind Melon immediately? |
“Sexy eyes, sexy glasses, nice lips, nice tie, nice butt. Whew! Back on track, back on track. No we were just so lucky to have found Travis. He kind of found us. Brad and I were producing records and he was stalking us. The whole thing happened organically and we’re just so pumped. We never imagined that we’d get to play these songs again. And right new music as well, so we’re excited.” |
Blind Melon are currently touring in support of ‘For My Friends’ with dates extending until October 10th in Vancouver, British Columbia. |
