BLADES OF GLORY GETS BOX OFFICE GOLD
Blades of Glory, the story of two men skating together for Olympic championship won the box office gold medal earning $33 million over the weekend. |
Jon Heder stars as flamboyant figure skater Jimmy MacElroy whose classical skating routines and sparkling costumes were modeled after three time U.S. national champion Johnny Weir. Jon talks about his training on the ice. |
“Most of our time on the ice was actually spent just trying to learn the basics separate of each other because we knew at some point we were gonna have to start working together because that’s what we do on the ice. It was actually just a couple of weeks before we started shooting the second part, all the skating stuff that we actually started working together on the ice. I got to learn more of the classical kind of very graceful arm lifts and chest extension.” |
Jon says working with Will Ferrell and skating beside him was an opportunity he couldn’t refuse. |
“Me sitting there watching Will kind of go to town and making up stuff as he goes along and being funny and me just trying to keep a straight face trying not to laugh. I’ll leave the comedy to Will and I’ll just leave the skating to me.” |
Meet The Robinsons came in close second at the box office earning $25 million. |
