BLACKALICIOUS UNDERSTANDS THE POWER OF COLLABORATION

Blackalicious, which is made up of Gift Of Gab and Chief Xcel, released their latest album, The Craft, last month. The set features guest appearances by Floetry, George Clinton, Ledisi, Lateef, Lyrics Born, Life Savas, Pigeon John, Kween, and Larry Saunders.

Group producer Chief Xcel explained that he learned how important collaborating with other artists was after working on the group’s last album, 2002’s Blazing Arrow. He said,

“I think the thing too with Blazing Arrow for me as a producer, it really taught me the creative power of the collaboration, you know what I mean? And just what an amazing learning process that is within itself.”

The group has recorded with Jaguar Wright, Gil Scott Heron, Jurassic 5, and Saul Williams in the past.
