BLACK EYED PEAS SUED FOR PLAGIARISM OF BOOM BOOM POW
The Black Eyed Peas are sued for elleged plagiarism of their hit track “Boom Boom Pow” and Taboo discussed the songs origin. |
The Black Eyed Peas are once again being sued for plagiarism, this time for their hit single “Boom Boom Pow” which is off their latest album “The E.N.D.” Supposedly Chicago artist Phoenix Phenom claims the song is a direct rip off of their single “Boom Dynamite.” To make matters worse for The Black Eyed Peas, Phoenix Phenom reportedly the song “Boom Dynamite” to Interscope Records, the Peas’s label, with the intention of luring Fergie to sing on their track. Interscope turned them down, and the Black Eyed Peas came out with their chart-topped shortly after. |
According to Taboo of The Black Eyed Peas, the song was written in collaboration with their DJ Poet Named Life and he talked about Poet lending his talents during the songwriting of “Boom Boom Pow.” |
Producer, songwriter and artist Printz Board who worked closely with The Black Eyed Peas during the making of “The E.N.D.” also shared his thoughts on being trying to leach off the bands success, which leads to frivilous law suits. |
This isn’t the first time The Black Eyed Peas have faced allegations of plagiarism. In November 2009, the band was sued by Adam Freeland because his song “Mancry” sounded suspiciously similar to BEP’s “Party All the Time.” The Black Eyed Peas are currently touring North American in support of “The E.N.D.” with dates extending until April 11th in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Black Eyed Peas will then take a short break before heading over to Europe with dates starting May 11th in Switzerland before finishing off May 20th in Paris, France. Look for more tour dates to be announced in the near future. |
