BLACK EYED PEAS AND NICKELBACK TAKE AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS

The American Music Awards took place on Tuesday night (November 21), and Black Eyed Peas were the big winners, while performances included Pussycat Dolls, Nelly Furtado, and Gwen Stefani among others. The Peas took home three awards. Fergie, Will.i.am and crew took home trophies for favorite group in both the rap/hip hop and soul/rhythm and blues categories. Their latest release Monkey Business won for rap/hip hop album.

While the band wasn’t there they did accept the award via satellite in Costa Rica.

“We’re over here in Costa Rica right now. We can’t be there although we wish we could be. Thank you so much for this award. It means a lot. It means a lot to me personally because I grew up watching the American Music Awards. I wish we could be there, but we’re representing Americans over here in Costa Rica. Red Hot Chili Peppers also accepted two awards by satellite from London. Nickelback took home an award for pop/rock album and gave their thanks.

“Thank you so much. Our management company, our record company, our friends, family and loved ones, thank you so much, and all of you the fans (cheers).”

Other winners for the night included Mary J. Blige, Jamie Foxx, Faith Hill, and Kelly Clarkson who took home two trophies.
