BILLY JOEL RETURNS TO THE ROAD, RELEASES POP TUNE
Billy Joel will return to the road in 2007 starting February 7, but he’s releasing his first pop recording in over 13 years. |
Billy Joel is set to resume his tour starting February 7 in Jacksonville, Florida but before his kick off, he’ll sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl this Sunday, February 4. |
Joel has also finished work on his first pop song in nearly 13 years. The tune, “All My Life,” will be available for an exclusive download at People.com, and then it’s spins its way to iTunes. A public release to radio has not been determined. Joel admitted to us last year during his record breaking MSG run that he had been writing new music, which wasn’t initially destined to be a song. |
“Well, musically, I’m still writing music. I never stopped writing music, I just stopped writing songs. I’m just writing for the sake of writing what I feel like writing. To what end, I don’t know. I don’w know what form it’s going to take. The music I’m writing right now could end up being a movie soundtrack, it can end up being symphonic, it can end up being fragmented into songs or a broadway show. I don’t really know where it’s going to go. All I know is that I’m being productive, and I’m writing and that’s all that matters to me right now.” |
Joel still plays all his hits in concert, and the Piano Man will hit nearly 15 dates on this round of touring. |
