BILLY JOEL ADDS A RECORD BREAKING 14TH MADISON SQUARE GARDEN SHOW
Billy Joel has added a record breaking 14th consecutive show at Madison Square Garden, where he has performed every month as part of his partnership and newly minted status as a franchise of the most world famous arena. The February 18th date will also mark his 60th show at the arena, and he is only now four away from breaking Elton John’s record of 64 appearances. The announcement of the February shows comes on the heels of the previous record breaker, January 9, and both shows will be available for purchase by the general public beginning at 10:00AM (EST) on Friday, November 14, 2014 via ticketmaster.com and by calling Ticketmaster at 866-858-0008. Tickets will also be available at the Madison Square Garden box office on November 15, 2014. Prices range from $64.50 to $124.50.
In an interview when the run was first announced Artisan News asked Billy how long he’ll be holding his residency in Manhattan’s performing venue.
Well, as long as there is a ticket demand and they can clear the date in the schedule and I’m physically able to do it. We’re going to be here. I’m going to be 65 next year, so I don’t know how long it can keep going, but I should have started back in 1978, when I first played here. But, we’ve been here so often it’s almost like we’ve been doing it already.”
Billy is also due to receive the ASCAP Centennial Award this month at Waldorf-Astoria in New York City with fellow legends Garth Brooks, Joan Baez, Stevie Wonder and Steven Sondheim.
