BILLY BOB THORNTON TAKES TO SPACE
Billy Bob Thornton stars in The Astronaut Farmer as a rancher in Story, Texas whose one lifelong dream was to go up in space. A promising astronaut who is forced to drop out of NASA he uses his degree in aerospace engineering and decides to take matters into his own hands by building a rocket himself. |
The whole town thinks he’s crazy but Billy Bob says he’s fueled by making his dreams come true. |
“Dreamers are normally the people who live in history and some of those people are crazy, a lot of them. His whole dream was to go up in space and decides he’s gonna do it even though it’s not particularly legal. Everything’s OK until he orders 10,000 pounds of rocket fuel and the FBI comes to see him.” |
Billy Bob says The Astronaut Farmer is reminiscent of the movies of the forties and will take you to another world. |
“This movie actually delivers in such a way that you’ll get to see a movie in living color in a modern fashion that resembles the movies of that time. I think the reason the movie business was created was to move people in some way and get them out of the worlds that they lived in and put them into another world. Whether it’s a world they relate to or a world that they’ve observed and this movie does that.” |
The Astronaut Farmer also stars Virginia Madsen as his supportive wife and Bruce Willis in an uncredited cameo as The Colonel, his astronaut buddy. |
