Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest was shot in such exotic locations as Dominica, an island paradise with it’s palm beaches and rain forests. Bill Nighy who plays the pirate Davy Jones was overwhelmed by the Caribbean. |
Bill spent most of his time filming at sea aboard the terrifying vessel, The Flying Dutchman. Besides the unfortunate wrath of Mother Nature during Hurricane season, he quite liked the cool Caribbean nights. |
“You’d go to work and there were three galleons on the see at night in the Caribbean with movie rain being pumped from rain ships. Then you’d have the lighting ships which have huge giant lenses on them the size of this room which hang in the Caribbean night. And you see the light coming through the rain and you see these beautiful vessels you think well I’ve got to be good.” |
“I was mostly on the water actually. I was kind of three months in the Caribbean and in the Bahamas. The early stuff we did in Los Angeles but most of my role was on deck therefore it was exteriors; therefore it was in the Caribbean which was very cool. I’ve been in worse places. We were there for quite a long time and we had a few snags as you may have heard like Hurricane Wilma. We were evacuated at one point. But a lot of it were night shoots which were my favorite because it was cooler. It was so lovely, the Caribbean evenings to be floating around on a galleon is pretty cool, you know.” |
