Bill had to wear grey pajamas with white dots all over him which when digitized would become a squid’s face with barnacles all over his body to make him look like Davy Jones.rn |
“There were a couple of times when I was doing dubbing, where it is such a mild Scottish accent because there were concerns that anybody would understand what I was saying. There was one particular line where I had to say, ‘Jack Sparrow our debt is settled-da.’ Which I don’t know if anyone short of Glasgow is gonna understand what I’m saying, you know, ‘settled-da.’ It’s a very strange way of talking and I have no excuse for it. I don’t even remember why I started it. Except I do know there had to be an accent unlike anyone else in the movie. There are Irish people, there are West Country people, and there are so many accents in the movie that they wanted something distinct from everybody else. It had to be something powerful that gave you a bit of muscle. Welsh which is what the name suggests; Davy Jones is a Welsh name is a kind of lilting rather soft accent that wouldn’t really do the trick. So somewhere out of the bag I chose a Scot |
