Backstage after receiving their 6 nominations the Black Eyed Peas talked about how proud they are not to rest on their past success. |
“These nominations, I’m so proud that we didn’t get swallowed by yesterday’s success. It means so much to us because before we did this album we sat down as a group and said ‘OK guys, what are we going to do? What kind of record are we going to make. Are we going to make a record based on what people expect us to do or are we going to go out and do what we need to do?’ And that is be inspired by the DJ’s. The Guetta’s, The Chuckies, The Diplo’s, The Steve Aoki’s, The Boys Noise, The Benny Benassi’s these guys are defying gravity. When the music industry is collapsing dance music still plays all over the world and to be nominated is awesome.” |
Colbie Caillat, who received 4 nominations talked about how surprised and honored she was to recieve multiple nominations. |
“I’m very surprised. I’m very honored to be nominated four times for the Grammy’s. I can’t even believe it. I’m kind of speechless. The one I’m most excited about is Pop Vocal for Album. That’s an honor for me.” |
Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush of Sugarland also talked about how excited they were to perform at The Grammy Nominations event outdoors for their fans. |
“It was exciting. It was exciting to do it outside and it’s for our Christmas record which is called ‘Gold and Green.’ We thought it’d be appropriate to do it in front of the big Christmas Tree. It was nice. It was fun and it was my first time playing piano on national television. You did well. Normally it’s just for my house and the studio but whatever. It’s cool. If you put a choir on anything it gets good.” |
