BETSY RUSSELL ROMANCED BY BELL IN SAW IV
Betsy Russell who plays Jigsaw’s wife was romanced by Tobin Bell to get into their characters’ marriage before shooting began. |
In Saw III Betsy Russell was just a flashback as Jigsaw’s wife, but in Saw IV she’s under investigation by FBI special agent Strahm played by Gilmore Girls star Scott Patterson, for the identical tortures that are going on despite the demise of her husband. |
Before shooting began Betsy says she and Tobin Bell did romantic research to develop their marital bond in front of the camera. |
“Tobin and I had a lot of moments together before we started shooting so we really worked on our character and our chemistry and getting to know each other. He’s so romantic. I mean he wrote me poems. He played me music from his Ipod. We went to lunch and dinner. He gave me little gifts. He really kind of courted me. Sorry for his wife. I don’t think she’ll be jealous though, she’s his biggest fan. But anyhow he just really courted me and we went over a lot of our history and what we thought our history was and stuff like that so we spent some time together and had a lot of fun.” |
In the film Betsy as Jill protects Jigsaw’s innocence which she says is part of being a loyal spouse. |
“I don’t know that you are definitely are sure that she knows what’s going on so you could look at it that way. Do you know what I mean? Or she could be, a lot of people turn the other way because if you really look at it carefully there’s nothing that says he’s the guy necessarily. But yeah in relationships I think there is a lot of loyalty and gosh a lot of that goes on.” |
Find out if Jigsaw gets to keep his identity a secret and gets away with it in Saw IV starting Friday, October 26th in theaters nationwide. |
