BEN KINGSLEY IS HIGH ON ACTING

Ben Kingsley found all he needs is acting to be high on life.

Ben Kingsley didn’t venture anonymously into any AA meetings when playing an alcoholic hit man in You Kill Me to understand how his character could recover from his addiction.

Instead he looked to fellow actors he knew with an addiction to drink and found recovery is indeed possible.

“I know people who have been to meetings, I have great respect for them. Some actors I’ve worked with, one in particular in a movie last year, I found him amazingly courageous because he told me he used to drink something like two liters of vodka a day; the cheapest of shopping mall vodka you could find and by the morning most of it had gone. He was a very nice guy and I really liked him and so I do know that there is life after AA and I do know that people have recovered.”

Ben doesn’t have a problem with alcohol addiction but finds that acting opposite Tea Leoni is the most natural high you can get.

“Fortunately not, thank God I didn’t. Members of my family did and it’s a tough legacy to overcome. My addiction thank goodness is acting and adrenalin. I tell you it gives you such a rush. That’s why Tea and I loved working together so much because we both actually get completely high on the job. We just love what we’re doing so much.”

You Kill Me is currently playing in theaters.
