BEN HARPER SAYS GOODBYE TO BAND?
After 12 years Laura Innes hangs up her scrubs working in the emergency room of ER. |
Laura Innes finally hangs up her scrubs on Thursday night’s episode of ER. Laura began her residency in 1995 in the emergency room of the fictional Chicago hospital County General, known as the tough but firm Dr. Kerry Weaver. |
In her 12 years on the series Laura’s Dr. Weaver has had an interesting journey from rising in the ranks to hospital Chief of staff to coming out of the closet. Laura says she wanted her to have a happy exit from the series. |
“We talked about how it should wind up. We talked last year about this year being the last year and what did I think. I said please don’t kill me off like throw me down an elevator shaft or have a helicopter fall on me. Please don’t do that. I said I’d really like it for this character who’s had such a difficult time, sort of like one tragedy after the other to have a happy exiter.” |
Without giving away the ending Dr. Innes will have some interesting opportunity come her way that she chooses to fulfill her life. As for Laura Innes she hasn’t begun to consider her future without ER. |
“I think it’s sunk into the first layer of my brain but it has a long way to go. It’s gonna be pretty surreal I got to say. It’s gonna be pretty surreal not to be coming to work every day. Definitely I’m gonna miss seeing these great people. I mean what the audience doesn’t see is the world that we have here when we’re just hanging out with the crew and the background and the actors that you know and you’re impressed by that’s one world. Those people are amazing and then there’s this whole other world of fabulous people who are expert at what they do. We just laugh all day and I’m gonna miss that.” |
Originally Laura auditioned for a small role as George Clooney’s girlfriend in 1994 but as fate would have it she wouldn’t be cast until a year later as Dr. Weaver. Laura is not pulling the plug completely on ER as she plans on coming back to direct an episode in March. |
