Sharon Stone got so into the role portraying the mother of murder victim Nicholas Markowitz retold with different names in the film Alpha Dog that she couldn’t hold back her anger in a scene with Ben Foster. |
Foster plays the victim’s brother, a meth addict whose drug dealings is the reason behind the senseless killing, and discovering this sets Stone’s character into an uncontrollable rage. |
“So I was trying to hit him without hurting him but to make it work for the scene and he just wouldn’t let me because he knew the scene really required this kind of violence and this kind of aggression. And it required me to really go for him. And I was doing the scene and he really came into me and he forced me to aggress him and he forced me to hit him. He just kept pushing me and pushing me and I kept losing and I just lost it. And he made me hit him until it broke my heart.” |
Despite connecting a wallop to Ben’s nose, the X-Men actor assured Stone that it was OK for the sake of the film. |
“It was so awful and his nose started to bleed and then Nick (Cassavetes) cut. I just looked at him like, ‘what have you done.’ And I got him ice, and he’s like, ‘honey it’s a movie.’ And what we’re doing is so much more important. I looked at him and I realized we are in this so deep and we’re so dedicated and we’re so dedicated to this kid and his parents and what happened. And I was just so moved by that.” |
Stone also put her vanity aside for authenticity becoming almost unrecognizable in Alpha Dog wearing a 40 pound fat suit as the real woman gained an enormous amount of weight from grief. |
