BEATLES HONOR JOHN AND GEORGE WITH LOVE
The remaining Beatles and the families of those no longer here honored the late John and George and celebrated one year of their Cirque Du Soleil Love show. |
The surviving Beatles and their families were in attendance in Las Vegas on Tuesday night (June 26) to take part in a special dedication ceremony for the late John Lennon and George Harrison. Ringo Starr, Olivia Harrison, Paul McCartney, and Yoko Ono were all in attendance to honor their memories in light of the Cirque Du Soleil show, Love. The show takes place at the Mirage, and there were special plaques unveiled. |
Some of the Beatles family talked about the event and also talked about the legacies of Lennon and Harrison. |
[Paul McCartney] “It’s great to be unveling this because the guys aren’t here. The show’s been such a great success. They were magnificient men, and it’s an honor to unveil this plaque to them. [Ringo Starr] “George was a great musician, and he was a dear friend. I love him and I miss him, and God Bless him. I’m sure wherever he is he’s smiling right now.” [Yoko Ono] “I’d just like to say, I think that John would have been very happy that the show’s been such a success and also that such a magnificent man (looks to McCartney) has introduced him.” [Olivia Harrison] “I’d like to thank the Mirage for giving us a home here, and also to Guy and to Cirque, who… This show is so demanding on them, and their lives revolve around ten performances a week. I don’t think that George would be surprised at the success of this collaboration.” |
The celebration also celebrated the one year anniversary of the Beatles inspired Love show, and the 40th Anniversary of Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. Love celebrates the musical legacy of The Beatles and is presented exclusively at The Mirage in Las Vegas. The project was born out of a personal friendship and mutual admiration between George Harrison and Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte. |
