BAD COMPANY QUEEN FRONTMAN PAUL RODGERS RELEASES GLASGOW DVD
Paul Rodgers has released a DVD of his Live In Glasgow concert. |
Paul Rodgers released his DVD set, Live In Glasgow, on May 29, and it features a heavy dose of Free mixed with Bad Company and the Firm, all the bands he’s fronted over the years. |
When we spoke with Paul last month, he had not seen the final edit of the video, but he did say it was a painstaking experience compiling all the shots from 13 different cameras in the venue for Live In Glasgow. |
“Well there are a lot of camera angles and a lot of editing. There are some shots that work better than others. It’s the same with music really. There are some more exciting moments from this angle than there are from that. So, there was quite a lot of editing going on. We’ve been flat out trying to meet the deadline, actually, doing these edits and chopping and changing and sending it across to England and back. So I have yet to really sit down and get the full effect without critiquing it because it’s all been, ‘Ok we want this, and we want that out,’ and this and that and that. So I’ve yet to see it as the audience will see it.” |
One of the crowd favorites on the disc is “All Right Now,” and although Classic Rock stations have been playing it since the early ’70s, Rodgers explained that it’s not as burned out as you might think. |
“Well there is that element to it. Keep in mind that when I formed Bad Company with Mick (Ralphs), we completely rewrote (sic) an entirely new catalog of songs. We didn’t play ‘All Right Now.’ I think we may have overlapped at ‘The Stealer’ or something like that, but basically they were seperate entities. And I didn’t play “All Right Now” until right through The Firm, right through the ’90s when I was touring in support of a blues tribute, a tribute to Muddy Waters that I did. And that’s when it slipped back into the set, strangely enough. I played it one night and it just took the roof off the place, and I thought, ‘Oh my god!?’ It’s just one of those live numbers that’s… a live number that comes to life. You can’t deny that. If it works, it works.” |
Paul Rodgers Live In Glasgow is currently in stores. It features such classics as “Feel Like Making Love,” “Wishing Well,” “Radioactive,” and “Can’t Get Enough” among others spanning his career in Free, Bad Company, and The Firm. |
