AVENGED SEVENFOLD SAYS NO EVIL REPEAT, MORE DRUMS?
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine was recently blindsided and called a big mouth by Metallica frontman James Hetfield for wanting to play with his old mates on… |
Avenged Sevenfold took their MTV Award and disappeared, or so it seemed. The band was riding a successful album with City Of Evil, which spawned “Seize The Day” and the infectious “Bat Country.” |
The band has retreated to the studio to make the follow-up, and drummer The Rev and bassist Johnny Christ talked about the mindset going into the new effort. |
“We’re always gonna step it up and evolve and change on every record. We don’t ever want to release the same record. Writing wise, after living for two years with all these ideas going through your head, they just bust out of you. You become a different person. Every two years of your life you’re a little bit different of a person no matter who you are, so we just roll with that.” |
One goal for the new effort is more drums. |
[The Rev] “It’s all individual ideas we have in our own heads. I want to play twice as much drums on the next record.” [Christ] “His goal on the next record — I think he already told us — is to so much crazy drumming that we have to tell him to stop in the middle of it and slow down a bit.” [The Rev] “Yeah, that’s definitely a goal of mine.” |
No release date has been set for the forthcoming effort. Meanwhile, vocalist Matt Shadows and guitarist Synyster Gates appear on the new Good Charlotte single, “The River,” for their Good Morning Revival record which hits stores in March. |
