AVENGED SEVENFOLD FANS ENJOYING CHANGE?

Avenged Sevenfold’s new album City Of Evil, is more of a classic metal and classic hard rock album than it is a metal/hardcore screamo type of album, which is what their two previous albums, Wakikng The Fallen and Sounding The Seventh Trumpet, were like.

The Rev, drummer for Avenged Sevenfold, was asked if the band’s hardcore fans were ready for a smoother sounding album.

“Well, at first they were a little taken aback and you’ve got to get your head around what’s going on. I think it took a lot of our core fans a little while to get into the album and digest it and understand that and get over that there’s no screaming on it anymore. Most of them realize that what he does with his voice is amazing. Anyone can go scream. No one can sing like that. Melodies are so much better. When you focus on melody that’s so much more is the music, I think.”

The latest single from Avenged Sevenfold, “Bat Country,” is currently at Number 13 on the Alternative radio chart and at Number 8 on the Active Rock radio chart.
