AUTHORITIES WANT TO QUESTION BUSTA RHYMES
The New York City Police Department would like to talk to Busta Rhymes about the fatal shooting which took place on the set of his video shoot early Sunday morning, February 5th. A bodyguard, Israel Ramirez, was shot and killed when violence erupted outside of the studio where the video was being shot. NYPD police commissioner Raymond Kelly told reporters on Monday, February 6th, “We believe Busta Rhymes may have been on the street when the shooting took place.” |
According to Kelly, Rhymes, Missy Elliott, Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks were inside of the production studio at 1:30 a.m. ET when an altercation began which spilled over to the street. Shortly thereafter, “There was some pushing and shoving going on when an individual took out a gun and fired at least eight shots,” Kelly said. So far the police department has impounded an SUV which was hit with several rounds and they also recovered a semi-automatic handgun from a nearby lot but no arrests have been made. |
According to sources who were on the set, there was a lot of tension brewing between Tony Yayo and members of the Ruff Ryders including Swizz Beatz. The source said, “Yayo was talking sh– to Swizz Beatz, Dee and Waah [Darrin and Joaquin Dean, CEOs of Ruff Ryders Entertainment]. Then Yayo started talking to Busta, saying, ‘My bad, I’m not trying to disrespect you. I ain’t gonna make it hot.’ “ |
There were allegedly over 500 people on the video set. The shoot was for the remix of Busta’s latest hit, “Touch It.” The rapper’s new album, The Big Bang, hits stores in April. |
