AUDIENCES STILL ENCHANTED
Enchanted maintains its place as number one at the box office. |
It seems perfectly fitting that the musical Enchanted should be number one at the box office for the second weekend in a row with Broadway back in swing. The Disney homage featuring the music of Broadway composers Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz took in $17 million. |
The writers of such classic scores as Little Mermaid and Beauty and The Beast sing the praises of their leading prince and princess Amy Adams and James Marsden. |
βI had no idea about that with James Marsden and after he was cast I guess somebody told us, probably Kevin, ‘you know we think Jimmy sings.’ And then he came in and had a voice. He can play leads on Broadway with that voice. And as could Amy. Menken who wrote the original songs True Love’s Kiss and Happy Working Song for Enchanted talks about his love of Disney animation. |
βTo use all those references whether they’re musical or visual that we remember from our childhood and we remember from another world and bring them to life again in a dramatic way and that’s a blast.β |
The family holiday feature This Christmas and 3D adventure Beowulf were neck and neck for second and third place at the box office pulling in $8 million and $7.8 million. |
