Atreyu talk about their upcoming new album “Congregation of the Damned” and why it’s the best of everything they’ve ever done in the past. |
Hard rockers Atreyu are gearing up for the release of their upcoming new album, “Congregation of the Damned” and it will be the bands follow up to their most commercially successful album of their career, 2007’s “Lead Sails Paper Anchor.” “Lead Sails Paper Anchor,” which was fueled by the Top 5 Active Rock hit “Becoming The Bull” and the #2 charting Alternative Rock hit “Falling Down” rocketed onto Billboard’s Rock and Hard Rock Album Charts at #1 and on Billboard’s Top 200 debuting at #8, making it the highest-charting album of the band’s career. For “Congregation of the Damned” the band wanted to continue with their commercial success, but at the same time return to more of the aggression and firepower they exhibited in their earlier years making a name for themselves in the hardcore metal-based scene of Orange County, California. |
Artisan News caught up with Brandon and Marc of Atreyu to get their thougths on “Congregation of the Damned” being a return to a more aggressive sound and why it’s the best of everything the band has done in the past. |
“Yeah, I mean it’s kind of the culmination if you will. We put all our old records in the pot and stirred it and added some new s**t to it, like new spices and it’s like us. I think it’s the best of everything we’ve ever done. Yeah it’s definitely more aggressive but at the same time very, very catchy melodic. It’s a very beautiful record. It’s very beautiful.” |
“Congregation of the Damned,” which is slated for release October 27th was produced by Bob Marlette (Ozzy Osbourne) and mixed by Rich Costey (Mars Volta, System of A Down, Rage Against the Machine). In between selling-out their own headlining tours, Atreyu have shared stages alongside Tool and Wolfmother at Epicenter 09, Slipknot and Alice in Chains at this year’s Rock on The Range, with Linkin Park on last year’s Projekt Revolution tour, with Korn and Evanescence on the Family Values Tour, co-headlined the Rockstar Taste of Chaos U.S. tour with Avenged Sevenfold, headlined Rockstar Taste of Chaos International across Europe and Asia, played Warped Tour, Ozzfest, Download UK and were tapped to play this summer’s Leeds and Reading Music Festivals. Next up for Atreyu will be a co-headlining tour with Hollywood Undead which kicks off October 16th in Lubbock, Texas and extends until November 21st in Los Angeles, Ca. rn |
