ANTHONY HOPKINS PLAYS PSYCHO
Anthony Hopkins stars in Fracture as a wealthy engineer analyzing the fracture mechanics of plane crashes who plans the perfect murder of his cheating younger wife. |
Hopkins has played a killer psycho before in Hannibal but says the character of Ted Crawford is just as dangerous. |
“Yeah I think he’s such a megalomaniac that he can’t believe his wife has cheated him but he must’ve provoked something. He must’ve been so cruel. As she says in the beginning of the movie before he kills her, ‘I’m too tired for all this.’ He wants to play mind games and word games with her. He’s obviously really wacko. There’s something not quite right in him. He’s probably driven her to a lover anyway. And he wants to destroy her. Maybe he did it deliberately to set it up so he could destroy her and have an excuse for it. He’s not a normal man. There’s something abnormal, anyone who wants to kill someone and set up a perfect murder isn’t quite right in the head.” |
The 70 year old actor was excited about the project and surprised that he was considered for the role. |
“I was really thrilled because I’ve reached a point in my life now where I don’t expect to get scripts like this. I think oh well let it go to um ..Brad Pitt or someone like that.” |
Ryan Gosling stars opposite Hopkins as the hot shot prosecuting attorney who gets caught up in his mind games. Fracture opens Friday in theaters. |
