ANDY SERKIS IS SMALL WONDER IN FLUSHED AWAY
When we last witnessed the talents of Andy Serkis he was the eighth wonder of the world as King Kong and in Flushed Away he’s the smallest wonder in the sewer world of London. Andy is the voice of Spike, the tinier half of the rat team which includes Whitey voiced by Bill Nighy. |
Andy is no stranger to using his voice and mannerisms to shape a character as he did with Gollum in Lord of The Rings. He talks about why he wanted to lend his vocal talents to Spike. |
“He’s a kind of a rather nervous twitchy rat who really wants to be number one but he’s just got no chance and he’s bossing around Whitey who’s about three times his size.rnAnd Whitey is kind of more the philosopher and he’s the more come on let’s get on with it. And he’s fired up. He’s always kind of on the go and always sort of chasing his goal but he’s absolutely rubbish and never manages to complete anything without hurting himself.” |
Next Andy stars in the thriller Rendition as The Interrogator who tries to get an innocent man to confess to crimes he has no idea he’s committed. |
“I was attracted to Spike because he’s such a loser and I love seeing characters that are above their station who trip over themselves in order to get somewhere you know.” |
