ANDY GARCIA REUNITES WITH OLD PAL RAY LIOTTA

Andy Garcia and Ray Liotta play FBI agents tracking down mob snitch Buddy Israel to bring him into the witness protection program in Smokin’ Aces.

Garcia admits he was not familiar with fellow FBI agent co-star Ryan Reynolds previous comedies. It was working with his old pal Ray Liotta that got Garcia to say yes to the role.

“I didn’t know Ryan was a huge comic. People say that, I didn’t know. Unless he was in a Disney movie that my four year old would go to see I’m not too up to speed on those things. But I only knew Ryan as I knew him in this movie and he’s a terrific actor. But Ray I’ve known since the late seventies. And one of the things that struck me when I knew I was going to be able to share a brief time with an old friend that I’ve never worked with it was a little nice nostalgic moment for us.”

Liotta and Garcia came up in the business together and shared their hard work ethic which paid off for the acting veterans.

“I think sharing the time on set with Ray and just knowing there was a guy you’ve known for so many years. We moved out here at the same time and we were all looking for work together and the fact that we could kind of look at each other and say, ‘hey we’re still around,’ you know.”

For Garcia it’s all about the actors that he’s working with and his next three films feature formidable ones including The Air I Breathe with Kevin Bacon, Oceans 13 reuniting with George Clooney and company and The Last Full Measure with Robert Duvall and Bruce Willis.
