ANDRE BENJAMIN BRINGS MUSIC TO IDLEWILD

(VIDEO) OutKast member Andre Benjamin starring in the film Idlewild talks about his musical expression.

Andre Benjamin stars in Idlewild as a piano player who performs nightly at a 1930s speak easy. Like his character Percival, the OutKast member is familiar with performing and talks about his musical expression.

Set in the 1930s Prohibition era in the American south, Andre says Idlewild has something for everyone.

“I guess the music part about it, it’s just an outlet. It’s kind of like playing dress up where you’re on stage and you perform. It’s not like your every day life. You know people look at me performing on stage or on television and they see it’s a totally different person than when they meet me. I think the Percival character is more true to life than what people see on TV now.”

The soundtrack from Idlewild is the next release from OutKast in stores today which was recorded live as the film was being shot.

“It’s pretty much everything, every genre. It’s drama, its action, it’s a musical. It’s a love story, it’s a gangster movie. It’s a comedy. It’s all there. Its action packed, it’s full. It’s like life. It’s everything. It’s not just one part of life.”
