ANASTASIO SHOWS GOOSE NEW BAND
Trey Anastasio of Phish fame now has a new band, which he showed off at the Vegoose Festival in Las Vegas this past weekend. Anastasio has a new record to promote in Shine, and he’s thrilled to be excited about music again. |
While Anastasio enjoyed the reunion with Phish he felt he had to form another configuration to go along with his magical experiences in that band and also with his solo side band, where he had a ten-piece horn section. |
“There were some conscious decisions. One: I’ve never been in a band with two guitarists since Phish started. We had two guitars, and our other guitar player left. I just love that sound, whenever I get up there with other guitar players. So that’s why I did the two guitar thing, and I had never been in a band with two keyboard players, so I was just trying to do everything different from the last few bands I had. I had a ten piece band and then I had Phish and then I had the power trio.” |
For Anastasio’s latest effort, Shine, he hooked up with Pearl Jam producer and multi-instrumentalist Brendan O’Brien. In fact, O’Brien and Anastasio played most of the instruments on the record, and many think this is the most “rock” he’s put out on one record. |
