AMY SMART DOES CRANK STUNTS

(VIDEO) Amy Smart makes her debut as an action star in Crank.

Amy Smart makes her debut as an action star in Crank playing the girlfriend of Jason Statham, a hit man who must keep moving no matter what to stay alive against a poisonous injection. Amy who was last seen in Peaceful Warrior talks about getting into the action.

And take a ride she did, doing most of her own stunt work which she said was quite daunting.

“I really did enjoy doing this action film. I enjoyed it for a few reasons. I thought first of all Jason’s done many action films and he’s really good at it. And I thought it would be fun to do it with him. Also the directors when I met them, they were just young and fun and wanted to make this crazy movie that will make people jump out of their skin and nauseous feeling that it would just rock their world. They had such a strong vision of this film I thought, ‘OK I’m gonna go along for the ride on this.’”

Amy was just taking a nod from director Mark Neveldine who strapped a camera onto his back and rolled with the action even if it meant keeping up with Los Angeles traffic.

“I did most all of the stunts myself. It was definitely scary at times. It was scary being four stories up on the fire escape climbing down in wedges.”

Crank opens Friday in theaters nationwide.

“He’s a daredevil with the technology they used for this film. He had a camera but then he had to have it strapped onto a 60 pound back pack to hold all the equipment and then he would strap on roller blades and take off filming these cool shots weaving in and out of traffic.”
