AMANDA PEET PRAISES PARENTHOOD
As a new mother, Amanda Peet talks about the themes of Martian Child which are single father parenting and adoption. |
Amanda Peet is a brand new mother who discovered she was pregnant while shooting Martian Child which is kind of a bitter sweet coincidence considering it’s about John Cusack, a recently widowed father who decides to adopt a 10 year-old boy. |
Amanda says parenting is the greatest joy you can experience and being a parent herself has empathy for what it’s like to raise a child even if you’re a single dad. |
“I think there are lots of different ways to be parents and I believe in same sex parenting. And I believe in single sex parenting. And I believe in all of it, it’s not about what you are, it’s about how well you can nurture and be a good parent.” |
And becoming a mom to her daughter Frankie with writer husband David Benioff has made her even more open to the thought of adoption. |
“I guess I do I feel very respectful and very humbled by people who are able to do that and take someone into their lives who they didn’t create. I think that’s really incredible really selfless act, really loving act.” |
Martian Child which introduces Bobby Coleman as the young actor who is the center of the story also stars John Cusack’s sister Joan playing a role she knows best, his concerned sibling. |
