AMANDA PEET PRAISES PARENTHOOD

As a new mother, Amanda Peet talks about the themes of Martian Child which are single father parenting and adoption.

Amanda Peet is a brand new mother who discovered she was pregnant while shooting Martian Child which is kind of a bitter sweet coincidence considering it’s about John Cusack, a recently widowed father who decides to adopt a 10 year-old boy.

Amanda says parenting is the greatest joy you can experience and being a parent herself has empathy for what it’s like to raise a child even if you’re a single dad.

“I think there are lots of different ways to be parents and I believe in same sex parenting. And I believe in single sex parenting. And I believe in all of it, it’s not about what you are, it’s about how well you can nurture and be a good parent.”

And becoming a mom to her daughter Frankie with writer husband David Benioff has made her even more open to the thought of adoption.

“I guess I do I feel very respectful and very humbled by people who are able to do that and take someone into their lives who they didn’t create. I think that’s really incredible really selfless act, really loving act.”

Martian Child which introduces Bobby Coleman as the young actor who is the center of the story also stars John Cusack’s sister Joan playing a role she knows best, his concerned sibling.
