ALFIE FINDS ITS WAY TO SLEUTH
The famous Alfie line, ‘what’s it all about,’ found it’s way onto Sleuth undetected. |
It seems Jude Law is the young Michael Caine of his generation taking on two of the quintessential roles in the seasoned actor’s career. First it was Alfie, the womanizing cad which Caine originated in 1966 and now Sleuth’s Milo Tindle first performed by Caine in 1972. |
Ironically the famous line What’s It All About from Alfie has found it’s way into Sleuth which apparently nobody noticed until the film was already in the can. |
“Do you know none of us realized that until it was screened in Toronto. It never came up; maybe we weren’t looking out for those sort of things. I didn’t until we took this film to the Toronto Film Festival and there was a big laugh when suddenly Michael Caine’s holding a gun on him and he goes, ‘what’s it all about?’ Duh! You’d of thought Michael would be the one to spot that but nobody did.” |
Jude is not stalking Caine, but he is a fervent admirer of him on and off the set. |
“It was such an easy fruitful experience. He’s a great man to be around. He will tell you he’d never offer advice but his wisdom and his stories and his lust for life he shares very generously. So you have a great time behind the camera and great times in front of the camera because he’s also a great professional.” |
Sleuth opens Friday, October 12th in theaters nationwide. |
