ALEXISONFIRE ENJOY HIGHEST DEBUT AT NUMBER 9 ON INDIE CHART
Canadian punk rockers Alexisofire have released “Old Crows/Young Cardinals” and not only was it the band’s first album in over three years but the album was Alexisfire’s highest US Chart debut at #9 on the Independent Chart and #81 on The Billboard Top 200. For “Old Crows/Young Cardinals Alexisonfire re-teamed with Julius Butty who also produced the group’s “Crisis” and “Watch Out!” discs. |
Artisan News caught up with Alexisonfire after the bands performance at a recent stop on The Warped Tour to get their thoughts on “Old Crows/Young Cardinals” being different than anything they’ve recorded in the past. |
“It’s called ‘Old Crows/Young Cardinals” and I think it’s different than things we’ve done in the past but it still sounds like Alexisonfire. Which is what we strive to do every record. Not to repeat ourselves but still keep in tact what we want the band to sounds like.” |
Alexisonfire also talked about having to burn the midnight oil at the end of the recording session in order to finish the album before their deadline. |
“I think we just kind of thought we had more time than we actually did. Then all of a sudden we realized there was a deadline and we had to burn the midnight oil a bunch of nights. Like singing until three in the morning and try and get stuff done so we could put the record out in the summer when we wanted.” |
Alexisonfire are currently touring the U.S with the 2009 Vans Warped Tour joining NOFX, 3Oh!3, Bad Religion, Flogging Molly, Underoath and many more on Kevin Lyman’s annual Summer Punk Rock extravaganza which is in its 15th anniversary this year. After the Warped tour Alexisonfire will be perform at both Reading and Leeds Festivals before taking a month off and then touring Europe with dates beginning October 7th in The U.K. and extending until November 18th in Stockholm, Sweden. |
