Godsmack lead vocalist Sully Erna recently made an appearance at The MusiCares MAP Benefit honoring Red Hot Chili Pepper front man Anthony Kiedis and all the work he’s done helping out musicians recovering from addictions and Erna revealed how much respect he has for Kiedis after reading his autobiography, “Scar Tissue.” “Scar Tissue” which was on The NY Times Best Seller list touches on Anthony’s early childhood growing up with his drug dealing father in Hollywood, building The Red Hot Chili Peppers into super stardom and overcoming the addictions he has conquered in his own life.

On the Red Carpet arriving at The MAP Benefit Sully Erna talked about how proud he is of Anthony Kiedis after he overcame his demons of addiction and lived to tell about it.

“I’m really excited because I’ll tell ya, I just finished his autobiography not too long ago before I even knew about the event. It’s so funny that I’ve been such a big fan of them for so long and know I have this whole new respect for him especially after reading his book and I’m just really excited to be here and see this happen for him. I’m really proud of what he’s accomplished.”

The Red Hot Chili Peppers continue on their indefinite hiatus and in the mean time Kiedis is working on an HBO series based around his autobiography “Scar Tissue.” The series will be aired on HBO and touches on growing up in Hollywood. Godsmack are gearing up for one of this summer’s biggest tours, Cruefest 2, which features Motley Crue, Theory of a Deadman, Drowning Pool and Charm City Devils. Cruefest 2 tour dates kick off July 19th in Hamden, NJ and extend until August 21st in Virginia Beach, Va.
