“I will say that Ron’s willingness in order to listen to what the actor has to say. I mean he will say, ‘what do you think? Does that feel natural to you?’ Other directors they don’t care if it feels natural or not. They want you to do exactly as they say. I think the collaborative spirit that he has with Akiva does translate to us. I think Ron deep down wants to hire actors who are aggressive in pursuing their instincts of what the scene is and then he listens to that, not that there’s wholesale changes. Because he’s been an actor and he knows how bad it can feel when you are doing something that you don’t really have a voice in. By and large movie making is an unnatural feeling process. But if you don’t get to somehow imprint your own instincts, your own take on what the character would be doing in the circumstance it can be a real drag.
