AARON LEWIS OF STAIND EYEING COMPLETION OF FIRST SOLO ALBUM
After releasing another successful Staind album in 2008, “The Illusion of Progress,” front man and lead vocalist Aaron Lewis is finally eyeing some time to get back into his home studio to finish off his long awaited first solo album. As Staind look to finish off their tour in support of “The Illusion of Progress,” Aaron Lewis continues to book solo tour dates which build upon his undeniable talent for improvisation. During his solo acoustic tour from 2008, Lewis performed a few cover songs along with a few Staind songs and he always left so time open for songwriting improvisation. |
Artisan News caught up with Aaron Lewis recently to find out if he’s comfortable improvising songwriting onstage. |
“I guess so. I guess it’s a way to figure out if they’re going to work or not before we actually put them on a record, but that wasn’t the intention. They kind of just came out. I wrote them on stage while I was playing them and kept playing them. I do that type of stuff. I’ve always done that, you know. ‘Outside’ was done that way. In front of 14,000 people in the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi. I had a chord progression and then I had a chorus and the rest of it I was just making it up as I went.” |
Staind will conclude their “The Illusion of Progress Tour” in Paris, France on Feb 10th. There will be no rest for the weary as Aaron Lewis will fly back to the U.S. to begin another round of solo tour dates beginning Feb 13th in Atlantic City, NJ and extending until Feb 28th in Uncasville, CT. After his brief solo tour, Aaron Lewis will reportedly head back into his home studio to finish off his debut solo album, which as of press time has no release date. |
