A Tribe Called Quest blame Jive Records for inability to reunite for new album….. |
A Tribe Called Quest was recently honored at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors which airs on Monday night, October 8th at 10:00 pm on VH1. Backstage in the press room group member Q-Tip shared that he was open to doing a new album with the group but not under Jive Records. |
The rapper explained, |
“Well we definitely are not opposed to getting together and doing an album. And you know we have to really like you know keeping it funky, talk to the powers that be at Jive. They’re the ones who still have our contract. They’re happy with keeping it in the 1990, in the 1990 frame. So as long as it’s there, I mean we don’t know. We’re at a stalemate but we’ll see. But we’re into it. We love each other. You know our relationship couldn’t be better.” |
A Tribe Called Quest’s 1990 debut set, People’s Instinctive Travels & The Paths Of Rhythm, was certified gold. The group’s breakthrough set was 1991’s platinum The Low End Theory which was followed by 1993’s Midnight Marauders, which was also certified platinum. In 1996, the group released the certified platinum set Beats, Rhymes, and Life, which was followed by the group’s last release, 1998’s The Love Movement, which was certified gold. |
