A MELLOWER HOT CHIP WORKING ON NEW ALBUM
British Electro Pop band Hot Chip are currently in the studio recording their follow up album to 2008’s “Made in the Dark” which peaked at #4 on The U.K. Charts. Hot Chip’s single “Ready For The Floor”, which reached #6 on the UK Singles Chart continued to help the band solidify their fan base both in The U.K. and in America and now the band will look to build off the momentum of “Made in the Dark.” |
We caught up with Hot Chip to get an update on the direction their next album is taking. |
“At this stage the stuff we’ve started for the new record is maybe a little bit of a slower tempo and less banging, less frenetic. It’s a mellower mood.” |
Hot Chip even revealed they don’t want anything to spoil their mellow mood in the studio. |
“Maybe it’s just how we’re feeling but no one’s been harshing our mellow. We’ve been pretty happy but maybe we need some more kind of conflict in our life. We need some sort of disaster to come along but hopefully it won’t. I don’t want to spoil our mellow mood.” |
Having grown a legion of fans with many successful festival appearances like Roskilde, Glastonbury, Bonnaroo, Coachella and Austin City Limits, it’s clear Hot Chip have discovered a successful formula for blending Electro Pop music thus making this a band to watch closely in 2009. Hot Chip have posted on their website the second of the free tracks from the new EP with Robert Wyatt & Geese, ‘We’re Looking For A Lot Of Love.’ Chosen from the band’s album ‘Made In The Dark’ by Robert Wyatt and re-recorded together in London, Hot Chip’s old friends and collaborators Geese (aka Emma and Vince from The Elysian Quartet) also lent a hand to create this stunning new arrangement.
