A KILLER INSIDE BLEED THE DREAM WAS CANCER AND DRUMS
Bleed the Dream are ready to drop their latest album ‘Killer Inside’ and the band is taking a new direction from anything they’ve done in the past with the additions of a new lead vocalist Mark Holmes and Tom Breyfogle on drums. Bleed the Dream have enlisted the vocal skills of Mark Holmes but what was a tougher decision for the band was finding a replacement to their original drummer, Scott Gottlieb, who lost his battle with cancer in 2005. |
We caught up with Bleed the Dreams original guitarist, Dave Aguilera, to talk about taking a new direction on ‘Killer Inside’ which is only natural after two new musicians join the band. |
“In terms of the difference between the two records I mean it’s a huge difference. These are two new members that did not play on ‘Built by Blood.’ The only original members are me and Keith (Thompson), the bass player. Regardless of the two new members or if it was the original members it would’ve gone in a different direction, one thing we like to do as a band is constantly progress. We never want to put out the same record twice, so we were already kind of going in this different direction with the new record and then, to through in a new drummer it made it that much different and obviously adding a new singer just put it over the top.” |
With the unfortunate death after battle with cancer of original drummer Scott Gottlieb, Aguilera talked about the hard decision of finding a replacement on drums. |
“It was a really hard decision, after Scott passed away we played with just all friends you know we didn’t even want to tackle that because it was so emotionally hard for us to even think about, you know really having a final drummer. We knew with ‘Killer Inside’ we wanted a specific sound a specific type of drummer and we know the only way to get that was to go out and look and actually audition guys. We took about a month and a half to do it. We saw forty different drummers and Tom happened to be the first one who auditioned and we saw thirty nine more and then went and called Tom and said ‘Hey you got it’ and that’s how that goes.” |
It was announced that Bleed the Dream will be joining The Briggs, Meg and Dia, K-OS, The Almost and special guest host Jimmy Mar at the Warped Tour Kickoff Party which will be held at The Key Club in Hollywood, Ca on April 13th. Bleed the Dream are confirmed for The 2007 Warped Tour with dates beginning June 28th in San Diego, California and extending until August 25th in Los Angeles, California. |
“‘Killer Inside’ for me is one of the most personal records lyrics wise for me. There was a lot of issues that I was working on with myself and the title of the record kind of refers to that. Killer Inside being metaphorical for the person you see inside yourself that realizes that you are actually killing the livelihood of yourself and you are your own worst enemy sort of thing. So, it’s definitely personal in terms of that.” |
