BILLY JOEL, KISS, BOB DYLAN, OWL CITY, TEAM UP TO COVER PAUL McCARTNEY

A diverse set of musicians from Kiss to Bob Dylan to Billy Joel to Owl City are part of one of the most exciting releases of the year, the compilation album titled The Art Of McCartney. The collection features almost every star imaginable covering a tune from The Beatles, Wings, or Sir Paul’s solo career. Steve Miller, Heart and Billy Joel each take on two songs. Joel does the excitable “Live And Let Die” and “Maybe I’m Amazed,” which stars off the one-of-a-kind recording. Steve Miller does “Junior’s Farm” and “Hey Jude,” while Heart takes on “Letting Go” and “Band On The Run.” Some of the more interesting selections is Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction fame singing “Got To Get You Into My Life,” Kiss taking on ”Venus And Mars/Rock Show,” and Bob Dylan putting his stamp on “Things We Said Today.”

Billy Joel and Paul McCartney have become good friends, and a few years back at the Songwriters Hall Of Fame, Joel recalled a visit by Sir Paul to his house.

Even Paul’s son, James McCartney, has gotten into the act singing Hello Goodbye with The Cure. Def Leppard goes for “Helen Wheels” and its singer Joe Elliott takes on “Hi Hi Hi.” Smokey Robinson, Alice Cooper, B.B. King, Roger Daltrey, Brian Wilson and Paul Rodgers all contribute tracks.
