The Killers were recognized at Sunday Night’s (August 28) MTV Video Music Awards show for Breakthrough Video for “Mr. Brightside.” The star of the video Eric Roberts, was at the show as a presenter. The Killers also performed the song for the worldwide audience.

Despite what the recognition, the most impressive thing to the band and singer Brandon Flowers was the fact they were feted by Snoop Dogg.

“I think we just made history because Snoop Dogg just gave the killers a video award. We’re pretty happy about that. We’re gonna thank some people. We’re very happy.” Drummer Ronnie Vannucci added, “Wow. This is great. We’ve got such a long list of people. I think we’d all like to thank our families and the people in our lives, people at the label like L.A. Reed and Rob Stevenson the purveyor of dreams.”

Although the Killers performed, other rock acts taking the stage at the MTV Video Music awards included My Chemical Romance, Coldplay, and the night’s big winners, Green Day.
