311 released their new album Don’t Tread On Me, a few months back, and the band had a bit of a chip on its shoulder while recording the album. Early versons of the tunes were leaked to the public after being stolen. |
The band admits that the theft fueled their creative efforts and were slightly disappointed that early versions of the songs made it to the ears of fans. Bassist P-Nut explains that they left no stone unturned during the writing and mixing of Don’t Tread On Me. |
“We’re just so proud of it. We just had so much fun with it. I don’t think any of the songs that are on the album really were forced at all. They just, if they took a little while we let it take its natural course. And over the course of a year and a half a song can change a lot as the people who stole our demos found out and then listen to the album, they went through a big change. I think that was a big challenge for us to deal with. We’re just happy the whole album wasn’t leaked in this day and age, and some our demos got out and it kept us on our toes. Screw you.” |
The title track from the album, Don’t Tread On Me, is currently at Number 2 on the Radio & Records industry chart. |
The band is currently schedule to perform a free show in the Dodger Stadium parking lot on October 15 as part of a Honda Civic concert series. The band kicks off the next leg of their tour October 21 in San Diego. |
