DEE SNIDER TWISTED HALLOWEEN HELSINGS CURSE
(VIDEO) Dee Snider is all about the costume and the horror, and the natural extension is his Halloween production, Van Helsings Curse. Dee talks to the camera about the live show….here! |
Van Helsing’s Curse is not just a soundtrack for Halloween. Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider has turned it into a full-scale production for the second straight year. Snider would love to get national distribution for the live event, but for now it’s confined to the northeast. |
The mini-tour kicks off October 27 in Detroit, Michigan, and Snider is only involved in the project as creator and host of the spooky ensemble. He told us what the live show is about. |
“There’s a story. Van Helsing’s curse is a narrated story. The rock orchestra represents the part of the story that I just told. So in these shows I am coming on stage as a narrator. I tell a bit of the story and then I walk off and let the rock orchestra go. Visually the rock orchestra is very exciting. The string section are classic Anne Rice old-school goths, the long gowns the frilly shirts the velour and the velvet, you know and very haughty and just awesome looking. The electric section, we call them the hell band, they’re Marilyn Manson meets Edward Scissorhands. They’re the new school goths and the choir are druids.” |
Van Helsing’s Curse was the brainchild of Dee Snider, who wanted to take the Trans Siberian Orchestra idea to a new level for his favorite holiday, Halloween. The album features spooky re-worked versions of classic rock songs mixed with classical compositons. |
