ROB SWIFT AND LARGE PROFESSOR RECREATE CLASSIC

Former X-ecutioner Rob Swift released his new solo album, Wargames, last month. The set features guest appearances by DJ Melo D, Breez Evahflowin, Akinyele, Bob James, and Prints Haze. The set also includes a cover of Main Source’s 1991 hip hop classic, “Just A Friendly Game Of Baseball.”

Rob Swift explained that he wanted to do a song on police brutality and hooking up with Large Professor was the logical move. He said,

“I knew I wanted to do a song about police brutality. So wanting to do a track that revolves around that automatically what came to mind was a song that Large Professor recorded. Again ‘Another Friendly Game of Baseball’ is a cover to a original track that Large did with his old group Main Source. So he came to mind and I was like, ‘Yo I can’t really see anyone else knocking out this song with me from a lyrical standpoint other than Large Professor cause he did such a good job at depicting how we feel walking down the street and seeing a cop or whatever the case was. So in my mind I knew I had to get him to do it. So I approached him about it and he was with it.”
