BIG BOI HAS EXPANDING ROSTER
OutKast’s Big Boi has been busy launching his new Virgin Records-distributed label, Purple Ribbon. The label will release a new compilation, Big Boi Presents…Got Purp? Vol. II, on November 8th. Big Boi told Allhiphop.com, “I just want to add something to the game and make good, quality music. Our sound is top notch and bad-to-the-bone, but most importantly, it’s funk-based. When dogs are purple ribbon bred, it means that they have a history behind them; a champion pedigree. A Purple Ribbon is the highest-ranking you can get and all the artists on my label are winners.” |
The label’s roster includes Bubba Sparxxx, KonKrete, Killa Mike, Sleepy Brown and newcomer Scar. Big Boi think Scar is the truth. He said, “Scar is hybrid-funk, but his voice is so classy and so clean. He’s really my secret weapon. He’s a dope writer, a great all around performer and a talented musician. He’s got a story to tell.” |
OutKast is scheduled to release a new album on December 6th. The set is the soundtrack to the group’s new movie, Idlewild and the first single from the album is “Idlewild Blues.” |
