DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE NOT WORRIED ABOUT INDIE BACKLASH
Death Cab For Cutie is continuing to build its grassroots campaign despite the band being snatched up by Atlantic Records, who released their latest album, Plans. |
Death Cab has been a mainstay on the college charts for years, and the band has had a loyal independent following. Like many who have gone this route, some fans may feel that their precious indie band may have sold out by going with a major, but singer and vocalist Ben Gibbard said that he thinks fans will make the jump with them and be comfortable with their direction. |
“I think, I mean people seem to be alright with it, I think as long as we stay true to eveything that’s been important to us over the years, I don’t think people will really stray. I feel OK with it. I understand those sentiments completely, and it all comes down to how committed people are to the music. If people aren’t willing to go there with us that’s fine too.” |
Death Cab For Cutie is currently enjoying success with their song “Soul Meets Body,” and they’ve got a full slate of radio festival dates on tap including a hometown show in Seattle to benefit the Vera Project, a youth run program that seeks to involve young people in the local music business for event production and promotion. |
