INXS SWITCH FANS AT NYC IN-STORE
INXS returned to the limelight as the ’80s hitmakers returned after their Rockstar reality TV show hooked them up with J.D. Fortune. The band has a new album titled Switch, and have found a voice in younger Fortune that is very similar to Michael’s but different at the same time. |
At Tuesday’s (November 29) New York City in-store in support of the album’s release, INXS member Kirk Pengilly told us what he thought the fans thought of having a TV contest to see who would replace the late Michael Hutchence in the band. |
“You can’t please everyone, you know? And when it comes down to it, we just wanted to continue making music and to do that we needed a singer. So, I mean hopefully all our fans will embrace us. It’s been eight years since we’ve made an album. I would hope and think that our fans would just be happy that we made another album.” |
The band performed a four song set at the Tower Records in-store, which included the new single, “Pretty Vegas,” as well as old faves “Mystify” and “Need You Tonight.” They then returned downstairs and signed autographs for the throngs of people wating on line. |
In addition to the release of the album, Switch, the band released a DVD of the hit show, Rockstar: INXS, which features the best performances from the show and some never-before seen footage. |
